COURSE DESCRIPTION
As the introductory course in a series of classes devoted to digital imaging and modeling, this class will present concepts and procedures of digital based design and presentation.

Throughout the class, concepts and methods will be demonstrated and students will be encouraged to explore the programs beyond the scope of the assignments in order to help foster the ability to learn on their own. As a result, the students should be prepared to continue using the computer effectively throughout their studies.

The main goal of this class to produce clear, presentation quality drawings, diagrams, and manipulated photos/renderings.

HOW THE CLASS WILL WORK
Throughout the semester, lecture and tutorial will be delivered to demonstrate a variety of means and methods for creating digital content. From the presented material, weekly assignments will be issued as either isolated exercises or components of final project development.

Students must train themselves to experiment with menu options, parameter changes, etc in order to gain further understanding and expanded skills within an application. It would be impossible to learn everything about an application in class. Though cliché, the best way to learn digital media programs is to experiment and practice.

ASSIGNMENTS AND ATTENDENCE
Each week, an assignment will be given, to be due at the following class. These assignments will be exercises in specific functions/methodologies and/or components of multi-week projects. All assignments shall be posted to the student website, pinned-up in class, and/or delivered in hard copy to the professor by the start of the next week's class period.

Every student is given space on the IIT server and every student shall create (and continually update) a website devoted to classwork. Students should be prepared to bring in work EACH class for pin-up review and keep their website up to date. Assignments, websites, and attendence shall be checked each week.

GRADES
Letter Grades shall be compiled from completed homework assignments, the final project, and attendence. Each assignment will be awarded a maximum of 10 points and will be graded on quality and content. At the end of the semester all points will be added and grades issued based on percentage of available points. Missed or incomplete assignments can be completed prior to the final presentation for ½ credit.

BACKUP
All students are required to keep backup copies of their work. There is no excuse for not backing up work and no sympathy will be given for those that lose files.
